Neurological Rehabilitation & More
Watchorn Street
In-Balance is soon to have a new clinic in South Launceston
tailored for neurological rehabilitation, with the dedicated team, equipment and environment to match.
OPENING SEPTEMBER 2026
SERVICES
Our South Launceston clinic is dedicated to neurological rehabilitation and complex allied health care, delivered by a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Neurological Rehabilitation
Dedicated assessment and rehabilitation for people living with neurological conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury and more. Our neuro rehab clinic is purpose-built for this work — including a ceiling track hoist, making us one of the very few private practices in Tasmania with this capability.
Complex Disability Care
In-Balance welcomes clients with complex disability support needs, whether or not you have a specific neurological diagnosis. Our team has extensive experience supporting people with a broad range of physical, functional and health conditions — working collaboratively with you, your carers and your wider support network to deliver care that is practical, goal-focused and genuinely tailored to your life.
Healthy Ageing & Support at Home
Staying strong and independent as you age is one of the best investments you can make. We help with falls prevention, mobility, strength and balance, and recovery after a hospital stay, injury or surgery — in the clinic or at home.
We work with clients funded through Support at Home (including the Restorative Care pathway), as well as DVA, Medicare Chronic Disease Management plans, private health insurance and self-funded clients.
- Falls risk assessment and balance/strength programs
- Post-hospital and post-surgical recovery
- Mobility and independence support to stay living at home
- Home visits available where clinically appropriate
- Support at Home, DVA, Medicare and self-funded clients welcome
Cardiac Rehabilitation
In-Balance Watchorn Street offers structured cardiac rehabilitation programs delivered by our exercise physiologists and physiotherapists. Whether you are recovering from a cardiac event, heart surgery or managing a chronic heart condition, our team will work with you to safely rebuild your fitness, strength and confidence — supported by evidence-based exercise programming tailored to your cardiac health goals.
NDIS Services
In-Balance welcomes NDIS participants at Watchorn St. We work with self-managed and plan-managed participants to deliver physiotherapy and exercise physiology as part of their NDIS plan. Our team is experienced in goal-based, outcomes-focused care and in working collaboratively with support coordinators and NDIS planners.
Ceiling Track Hoist
What is a Ceiling Track Hoist?
A ceiling track hoist — also called a body weight support hoist — is one of the most powerful rehabilitation tools available and the centrepiece of our Watchorn Street gym.
The system places you in a harness that attaches to a track running along the ceiling, allowing you to move safely and confidently in a fully supported environment. At In-Balance Watchorn Street our ceiling track is one of the longest available in any private practice clinic in northern Tasmania.
The hoist can be used for:
- Body-weight supported gait training — practising walking in a safe, supported environment with no risk of falls
- Falls prevention and balance training — building confidence and stability on your feet
- Transferring from a wheelchair onto therapy equipment — opening up access to rehabilitation that would otherwise not be possible
The hoist opens up rehabilitation options that would simply be too risky to attempt otherwise — but become perfectly safe and achievable with the harness in place. It also means we can get people who are completely unable to stand or walk independently up on their feet and moving, often for the first time in their rehabilitation journey.
Physiotherapy
Evidence-based physiotherapy for musculoskeletal injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, neurological conditions and complex presentations. Our physiotherapists take an unhurried, thorough approach to assessment and treatment.
Exercise Physiology
Tailored exercise programs designed to support recovery, manage chronic conditions and build strength and function. Our exercise physiologists work closely with the broader team for integrated, patient-centred care.
Therapy Assistants
Our therapy assistants work alongside our physiotherapists and exercise physiologists to deliver hands-on support during your rehabilitation sessions. Under the supervision of our qualified clinicians, therapy assistants help maximise the frequency and intensity of your rehabilitation — getting you more time on the equipment and more repetitions of the movements that matter most to your recovery.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Whether you're coming to us following a stroke, a brain injury, a neurological diagnosis, or a referral from your GP or specialist or you're looking for support to stay active, steady and independent at home as you age— your first appointment starts with a thorough assessment to understand your goals, your history and what matters most to you.
From there, your therapist will work with you — and where relevant, your family, carers and other health professionals — to design a rehabilitation plan that is practical, evidence-based and genuinely tailored to where you want to get to.
We take a collaborative, whole-person approach to rehabilitation. You are more than your diagnosis.
