    The stats

    • In 2020–21, an estimated 571,000 Australians aged 18 and over had heart disease.
    • Modifiable risk factors account for up to 90% of the risk of a heart attack.
    • In Australia, 64% of adults have three or more modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

    Who is it for?

    • If you have had a recent (<6 months) Cardiac event and have already completed a Phase 2 Cardiac Rehab Program.
    • You have a history of cardiovascular disease (>6 months).
    • If you would like further support to manage your cardiac condition.
    • Are at a high risk of developing cardiac disease.

    What is involved?

    Heart smart Cardiac Rehab is the next step in your Heart Smart journey after you have had a cardiac event or if you are at risk and need a prevention program.

     

    Our specialised 8-week program is a combination of individualised exercise and education sessions delivered in small groups.

     

    These sessions are designed to help improve your functional capacity, strength and confidence in returning to both your everyday and more vigorous activities.

    How do I get started?

    You will need to book a screening assessment with our Exercise Physiologist. It's important that we have a good understanding of any injuries, underlying medical conditions and medications prior to participating, so please bring this information to your appointment.

     

    You will also need a medical clearance from your GP or Specialist to start a Heart smart Cardiac Rehab exercise program.
