    Lil Cox pain management

Lil Cox is an Occupational Therapist

Ever wondered what an OT does?

Lil is an occupational therapist who has undertaken extra studies to assist people with Mental Health Issues. She has been working in both private and public sectors with adults, children and adolescents, couple’s and family’s living with a range of mental health concerns.

She has experience in pain biology education and persistent pain management assistance, based on biopsychosocial formulations of pain and neuro-immune science. Lil believes pain is treatable. With Lil's extensive experience as a mental health service provider, patients are empowered through self awareness, education and skill development, to navigate the recovery journey. Lil has a Masters of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) from the University of Sydney and enjoys contributing to interdisciplinary treatment plans to achieve maximum benefit. This led her to help de3velop the "Tame Your Pain" program with Physiotherapists at In-Balance.

Lil provides pain education and management based on the biopsychosocial model. CBT based interventions are available, with a particular focus on improving mood and distress, activity participation and general coping. Assistance to develop personal self management plans and to navigate the return to work process can also be provided.

As an OT, Lil assists people to maximise their participation in their chosen life roles, interest areas and occupations and she is committed to enabling clients through self-awareness and practical skill development, to improve daily functioning in all life domains.

Lil has 3 kids, a husband and 2 dogs keeping her very busy outside work. Lil loves travel, playing tennis, bushwalking, hanging at the beach, camping, gardening, eating and drinking with good friends.
